Airwave Advancements – Radio Developments from the Front Lines
Here are the latest developments in the dynamic world of radio:
WMAL 630 in Washington, DC announced this week that Fred Grandy, half of the former morning show team of “Grandy and Andy,” will be the foundation of a new morning show team “The Grandy Group” to handle 5:00 to 9:00 a.m. timeslot. Chris Plante will return to his former slot of 9:00 a.m. to noon after a short stint on the morning show.
The Clear Channel urban station WMIB-FM “103.5 The Beat” in Miami has changed formats to Spanish Adult Contemporary “103.5 Super X.” The station went back to mainstream R&B; only last year.
News/Talk station WDOX-AM Raleigh, N.C. has changed formats to Classic Country as WQDR-AM, Country Legends 570.
Alternative WDYL-FM in Richmond has changed format to Rhythmic Top-40 and will be branded as WHTI-FM Hot 100.9. Sister station WMXB-FM just went from Adult Top-40 to an Adult Alternative format last week. This is Cox’s second new format launch in Richmond in a week.
