Join PRSA for “How to Contain Crises in Today’s Viral World” – Half-day Workshop

You know how quickly it can happen. And in today’s world it may not be a question of if – but when – a viral crisis will affect you and your business or organization. What are the new rules for preparing for crisis in today’s fast-moving, viral social media world? Are you prepared?

This half-day interactive, hands-on crisis workshop is designed to help you become aware of potential crises, create effective communication crisis strategy, measure your response effectiveness, and prepare yourself and your company or organization to maximize your overall communication goals.

prsa-logoThe speakers, Andrew Gilman and Nicholas Peters will discuss current viral crisis situations and the communication reaction and responses – both good and not-so-good – and then give you the opportunity to test your viral crisis communications skills with role playing and analysis. In addition, the seasoned crisis communications speakers – who have seen it all – will provide ideas and tips you can use immediately to prepare your organization for “Containing Crises in Today’s Viral World.”

Last year’s Crisis Communications event was so popular that many people asked that it be expanded to offer even greater in-depth discussions and learning.

Speaker Bios:
Andrew Gilman,
 President and CEO of CommCore Consulting Group. Andy was part of the team counseling Johnson & Johnson during the Tylenol 1 crisis in the early 1980s; he helped prep former J&J Chairman James Burke for his 60 Minutes interview. He worked with Lockheed Martin after the shuttle explosions, the FBI after 9/11, the government of Canada during the fatal SARS outbreak in 2003, and senior Federal Reserve officials during the bank crisis of 2008-2009. He handled crisis communications planning for the Archdiocese of Washington DC during Pope Benedict’s visit to the capital in 2008. A former journalist and a lawyer, Andy is author of the highly-regarded book “Get to the Point.”

Nicholas Peters, Senior Vice President of CommCore Consulting Group. Nick was an award-winning journalist at CBS News in New York producing for Dan Rather and Charles Osgood, News Director at the NPR affiliate in Philadelphia WHYY-FM, and as a reporter for major daily newspapers in Indianapolis, Raleigh and Philadelphia. He then joined video PR firm Medialink in New York and Los Angeles serving as Executive Editor, VP of Sales, and of Broadcast Operations. For Medialink in the mid 90s Nick managed the broadcast components of PepsiCo’s response to a nationwide soda can tampering hoax and General Motors’ response to an NBC News report on flaming pickup trucks that included a rigged demonstration. He joined CommCore in 2008. His clients include the US Department of State and National Conference on Public Employee Retirement Systems.
