NEWS GENERATION LAUNCHES PODCASTING SERVICE AND PROVIDES RADIO STATIONS NEWS CONTENT THROUGH RSS FEED

Contact: Susan Matthews Apgood, 301-664-6448

Bethesda, MD - Tuesday, February 14, 2006 — With the popularity of podcasts, News Generation, Inc. has announced the addition of audio podcasting production to its comprehensive list of radio services it provides clients.

“Podcasting is proving to be one of the best ways to deliver audio content via the Internet,” says Susan Matthews Apgood, president of News Generation. “This new service enables clients to repurpose audio broadcast PR content, such as an audio news release or radio media tour, to reach consumer audiences directly.”

A podcast is an audio program, most often in an MP3 format that can be downloaded from the Internet and played by an iPod, other MP3 player or personal computer. Much of the interest in podcasting has been stimulated by the opportunity for anyone with a Web connection to become a broadcaster.

Lynn Harris Medcalf, executive vice president offers a word of warning. “To create a podcast that is successful, the same rules apply that makes an audio news release successful. A podcast must present quality content, be newsworthy and avoid the overuse of corporate mentions.”

News Generation knows a great deal about providing current, compelling, and newsworthy content. The company has utilized radio techniques to get radio placements for corporations, associations, non-profit organizations, and clients of public relations firms for more than eight years.

In addition to adding podcasting to its stable of services, News Generation has recently launched an RSS feed on their content website www.radionewssource.com. The news feed offers radio reporters and producers quality radio content delivered directly to their desktop.

“With the downsizing and consolidation in radio newsrooms, reporters rely on receiving content that is easily accessible,” comments Medcalf. “The more accessible and high-quality the feeds, the greater opportunity for our clients to have another avenue to provide content to radio stations.”

RSS, also known as Really Simple Syndication, has helped to simplify the news gathering process by automatically updating users to the availability of news and information on the Web. News Generation is the first radio media relations service provider to launch an RSS feed online for radio stations to gather news content. News Generation’s RSS feed is updated on a daily basis to ensure users always get the latest content, and is available at www.radionewssource.com.

News Generation, Inc. is a public relations services firm specializing in radio.
